This is the hip belt component of our B.A.R. (Build-A-Ruck) System which connects to ALICE-style frames such as the Fortitude and 1606-MC frames. It is constructed of 1000D/500D CORDURA®, laminated PALS/MOLLE, MIL-SPEC webbing, and durable hardware.
Our latest version includes the same design and quality materials, but with the ability to remove the side wing pads and only utilize the 2" webbing belt - or stow the belt behind the lumbar when not in use.
When it comes to properly distributing a load, there are quite a few scientific formulas which must come into play. The geometric shape and load distribution across the belt eliminates fatigue and the grippy HANK (hypalon/kevlar) material lumbar prevents the belt from slipping down your back while under heavy loads.
The pull-forward design of the 2" belt and ladder lock system allows you to pull the belt tighter into your hips in the proper position and really brings the lumbar tight against your back where it's supposed to be. It is also adjustable to comfortably fit up to a 44" waist which is also helpful while wearing winter layers.
Behind the lumbar padding is a passthrough on each side of the cushioned pillow where an additional block of stiff foam can be inserted to adjust the depth for each user's preference - or the 2" webbing belt can be stowed when the side wing pads are removed. It can also be used as a hidden storage sleeve for rain gear, maps, or other flat items and the tension prevents the items from shifting out from the sides.
We are using the highest-grade, most comfortable foam available in the industry (feels like dense memory foam) with dual density stacking and a stiff HDPE back panel to maintain structure. The strap connection system uses tri-glides and ladder locks to pull the belt tight against the frame and it does not budge.
The B.A.R. Hip Belt is made in the USA and Berry Compliant.
